Why I Moved to Spain in 2025 – And Why You Might Want to, Too 🇪🇸

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m all about making bold career moves, taking your skills global, and using AI to stay ahead. But in 2025, I took my own advice to the next level—I packed up my life and moved to Spain.

And let me tell you—it wasn’t just about the lifestyle (although, yes, the tapas and siestas don’t hurt). This move was about something bigger: freedom, opportunity, and creating the life I actually want.

So today, I’m sharing why I made the leap, what I’ve learned so far, and what YOU need to know if you’re thinking about moving abroad.

🚀 Why Spain?

I had plenty of reasons to leave the U.S., but here’s why Spain made the most sense for me:

✅ Work-Life Balance is Real Here – Coming from the U.S. grind culture, I was exhausted. Spain prioritizes a slower, more intentional pace of life—and honestly, I needed that.

✅ Cost of Living is Way Lower – Depending on where you are in Spain, you can live comfortably on half of what you’d spend in a major U.S. city. Rent, healthcare, and even dining out are all way more affordable.

✅ A Visa That Made Sense for Me – Not everyone realizes this, but you don’t need an employer to sponsor you to move abroad. There are visas designed for remote workers, entrepreneurs, and even job seekers. (More on that below.)

✅ I Wanted to Expand My Global Career Brand – Being in Europe opens up new opportunities, connections, and perspectives that I wouldn’t have had access to in the U.S.

✅ Because Why Not? – Too many people wait for the "perfect time" to make a move. But here’s the truth: there is no perfect time. I was ready to stop overthinking and start living.

🌎 How I Made It Happen

A lot of people assume moving abroad is impossible unless a company transfers you. That’s not true. Here’s what I did:

🔹 Researched Visa Options – Spain offers visas for remote workers, freelancers, and even job seekers. (If you want to move here, look into the Digital Nomad Visa or the Non-Lucrative Visa.)

🔹 Leveraged My Skills & Business – Instead of waiting for the "right job" to come along, I used my existing experience and expertise to create opportunities that work from anywhere.

🔹 Used AI for Research & Applications – AI tools helped me navigate international job markets, translate documents, and streamline the process.

🔹 Built a Support Network – Relocating alone can feel overwhelming, so I connected with expats, professionals, and locals to make the transition smoother.

💡 Thinking About Moving Abroad? Here’s My Advice:

1️⃣ Figure out your “why.” Are you moving for a career, lifestyle, or a fresh start? Knowing this will help you choose the right country & visa.
2️⃣ Find a visa that works for you. Many countries have options for remote workers, skilled professionals, and even job seekers.
3️⃣ Start job searching internationally. Use AI to optimize your resume for global markets and target companies that hire internationally.
4️⃣ Don’t overthink it. The biggest regret I hear? “I wish I had done it sooner.”
